SUSTAINABILITY
WHAT IS NDF DOING?
We have made some changes to the way we run our conferences. NDF acknowledges that hosting a conference isn’t the greenest of activities. The carbon costs of transport are significant.
However, we believe that coming together in person is still incredibly valuable, otherwise we wouldn’t be holding an event. The kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) connections that we build and nourish are important for building relationships and sharing knowledge.
We are making changes to reduce our carbon emissions.
Lanyard. Our lanyards are rPET fabric - made from 100% recycled plastic from water bottles and food packaging. They have been reused following past NDF events and conferences. Please return your lanyard at the end of your conference so we may reuse these in the future.
Vegetarian menu. The climate impact of plant-based foods is between 10 - 50 times less than that of animal products. For this reason, NDF’s catering is fully vegetarian, with plenty of vegan items as well. There are also gluten-free options, and items suitable for an array of dietary requirements.
Reduced packaging and paper. We have reduced our packaging as much as possible. Our program is paperless and available instead on our conference website.
Own cups. We invite you to bring your own coffee cup this year. The baristas are happy to make your favourite brew in a cup you provide. Alternatively compostable disposable cups will be offered without lids by default.
